Update #2 01 January 2016

I hope that you had a great time this past year, and even better for the year ahead. Don't fret if the year hasn't turn out as well as you want to. Hold your head high and believe in yourself that things will pick up in 2016.

I'm writing this to do a quick recap over the last three months. I know I have not uploaded any stuffs since my term start, and the work from school is only starting to get even tougher and more time consuming. I've been trying to do quick sketches whenever I could, but it's just really difficult to get that break. They were't kidding with the "Tons of assignments" caution. The good thing is that we are starting to do some design work, albeit simple ones. I hope to show some of these, but again, I'm not sure if anyone's interested.

I can't do any fanart still, and I had some idea after the season ended, so that's a real bummer. I guess there's still Season 6 and a new EQG movie to look forward to, and I hope that you will still be here with me when that time comes.

Well, that's about it for now.

Happy New Year!

Original Title : After Army and What's Next

Back when I wrote the previous journal entry, I was in the middle of my army service. It was October and it felt so daunting, knowing that I have yet another year to drag myself on. Do not get me wrong, I definitely did acquire a lot of life skills, lessons and the likes, and while I do enjoy firing my rifles, two years of mandatory service were just… long. I did kept thinking of better ways I could have spent instead since I didn't want to be drafted in the first place. But, like I mentioned, I did learn a lot and I'm certainly am grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of my country's defense.

I was fortunate enough that majority of my weekends were left untouched by the unit I was posted to as I have heard situations from my friends that they had ‘activation’ in the middle of their Saturday night for quite a number of times. For those who would like to know, ‘activation’ is a form of call-up whereby they have to return back to their camp and be on standby formation within an hour usually (Or shorter depending on the level of the emergency status). So, yea, I had my weekends free to practice my artsy stuffs, which is nice.

Anyhow, as cliche as the phrase goes, time flies right pass me and I have finally completed my service. I’m beginning a new semester of class in a new school. This time round, I have decided to take a leap of faith and opted for a design course at FZD instead of an engineering one, which I was a student of previously before my army terms.

  • A quick rewind - I was enrolled in an Aerospace Diploma back then but it didn’t really cut out for me midway during my course of study. I took up drawing as a hobby and found out that I had more passion for it. Long story short, I kept on teaching myself during my free time then and made an option to pursue art after my service.
So, yea, I will be attending FZD's curriculum for the next year and hope that I can improve myself over the following months. My goal right now is to land myself on a job in the entertainment industry as a concept designer or a concept illustrator after graduation. I've heard its tough times for these positions right now, but I can't let that stop me now. It's all out for me since doing this is my back-up plan to engineering.

I don't know how often I can continue with MLP fanarts from here on as I've been told that FZD has TONS of assignments. I can probably show my school's stuff instead, but I'm not too sure if anybody's interested.

~To my watchers, I would like to thank you for the supports these past years.

Welcome and thank you for checking out my gallery.

I'm currently serving my two years of military service and it has been a little difficult trying to find the time to do art-related stuffs. With the weekdays spent entirely in camp, I am somewhat a little unresponsive. It's a surprise to myself that I'm able to upload anything.

I appreciate the comments everyone have given me. As a self-taught artist, those compliments serve a huge motivational boost to me. I will try to reply to all of it, but if I don't, it also doesn't mean that I don't care about it. I certainly do acknowledge them. Honest. I just prefer to respond when I actually do have something to say, and not just reply for the sake of replying.

Keep calm and wear that smile of yours everyday!
