Path to Canterlot by aJVL Path to Canterlot by aJVL

Wow...finally caught a break and managed to whip this up. Was trying out some sort of "entertainment" lighting scheme, meaning the lighting on certain object are deliberate to capture attention. Still got to keep on practising values and lighting.

More to come!

Just a quick question for you guys.
What are the Brightness and Contrast setting of your monitor, or your laptop screen?

Vision- I REALLY like it when someone draws an epic and grandiose setting like this, and I think it needs to happen more often. Love that the mountains in the back are slightly blurre and obscured by the clouds and the distance.

Originality- I don't usually browse a lot of art ain't because I don't have all the time I need) but big and scenic images DO attract my attention. A lot And not a lot artists do this enough.

Technique- From what I know of art, you've done a lot of stuff here that is nice. Celestia is standing symbolically in the sun, Canterlot is standing tall in the distance and is also bathed in sunlight Good use of shadow and light. It doesn't feel like any of that adding is too dark or too light To me, though, it does appear that there is a... Beam of sunlight coming down from the top-right corner of the image? It seems To stand out a tad too much.

Impact- I've said this twice already, but I love this type of piece. It makes me curious, wondering what Celestia is think, and doing. Is this before Nightmare Moon? After? I like how it is difficult to place the time period.

Nothing much to say - One of best artworks I've ever seen. Even though if I've seen much of this kind of art, this one is just better than others. You can easily see how much work the author put into this picture. The only noticeable drawback is the lack of depth in the image, although in the background you can see the great, vast mountains, everything seems to me to be too flat. Anyway, view of Celestia staring at Canterlot, and a beautiful sky, and a wonderful picture of the valley in front of her, caused by a very positive emotions, for which I price this work very highly.

OHMYGOD, magnificent drawing!
I set it as desktop wallpaper

Don't you mind if I'll take a segment of it to use as a background to my art? There will not be ponies, actually.
