~Even in one of the most notorious region of Equestria, something great comes out of it

One of the better portrait work I've done, and I've happy about the lighting. I think I'm getting the hang of colour and value. Well, can't be complacent and all, so I've still gotta practice.

Grats on getting a piece to be featured on ponies plus!

As a pixel artist who's seriously starting to step up his game and try new styles that allows for greater detail, it's great to see pieces that I can look up to when I want to figure out how to turn those simple vectors to something pretty detailed to make the most out of my medium.

Getting the hang of color and value? I personally wonder what happens if the green color of the hanging foliage would be changed to something that blends into he background a bit more, so it does not distract too much from our subject (my eyes keep wandering off to them. grrr) . For everything else, there's nothing much I can say; everything else seems pretty right to me. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>

The lighting is pretty interesting. There's something to this mystical quality of it that has really grabbed my attention. The blue sparkles in the corner seems to be very interesting, and it really makes me stop and wonder what they are. I would think the piece would make more intuitive sense if a little blue was added to her neck and ear rings though, especially in areas where you've chosen to darken.

However, the yellow light source is starting to throw me off when I spend time thinking about it. Her back left leg tells me that the light source is behind her. Her earring tells me that it's to the side. The shading of the ground is also throwing me off as it doesn't seem to correspond to that light source correctly despite the bushes in the background doing that just fine. Her neck rings also doesn't make complete sense as it suggests a more frontal light source. Eh, I also screw up with somewhat incoherent shading on my own works.

Less coherent shading or not, this is still a great piece that can grab people's attention. I need more people to look up to so I can keep my ego in check, so you have earned a watcher.
